Are you who God created you to be?

It's funny how the pieces fit together.  Not in one day, one week, one month or even in one year at times.  Sometimes they seamlessly and clearly fit and others... well, I'm still left wondering at times.

Several weekends ago was one of those emotional roller coaster, up and down, scary curves kinda weekends.  And by Sunday afternoon, I knew I had to write.  I knew I had to put the thoughts in my head on the screen in front of me.  I knew I had to listen.

In the tiny little town that we call home, stands a very old and beautiful home.  It once belonged to a family in our county that now has things named after them.  Now, it's a sweet art gallery.  Over a year and half ago, this little gallery brought an art exhibit to town.  It was instantly popular because it was art made entirely out of Legos!  Visitors waited in line outside the doors to get a look at the Lego art... waited in line holding the hands of a small children.  I, of course, went holding my camera in hand.

Many of the pieces were life size, intricately detailed and absolutely entirely built out of Legos!  I mean, I've stepped on these in the middle of the night only to scream and promise to throw them all out in the trash the next day.  (Can anyone out there feel my pain?) But here I stood in this sweet little rural art gallery, looking at a traveling exhibit of ... Legos!  Now, don't get me wrong, these Lego builds were far better than my children had ever made - they definitely took amazing expertise. But in reality, they were still... Legos.

I snapped away, my children oohed and aahhed, and attendants tried to corral little ones all too excited to "play" with the Legos.  Yes, these were impressive pieces but what really impressed me was when I came to the info about the artist - THAT was impressive.

Nathan Sawaya - The Brick Artist.  NYU Law School graduate and successful NYC lawyer with office residence in the Empire State Building!  Nathan Sawaya - building art out of Legos.  He let go of his successful law career to literally play with Legos people!  I knew when I heard his story, I had to write about.

But your saying, Tracey, that was a couple of years ago - "Why are you just now writing about it?" It's funny how the pieces fit together...

I'm one of those folks that is always questioning - everything from parenting skills, to what to wear, to what restaurant I should choose, to career choice, to...  You get the idea.  In my head is a voice saying, "I'm I being who God created me to be?" and "What in the world was I created to be anyway?"  The struggle is real blogland!

This post is a first for me in a way, and maybe a last at this URL - I'm not sure yet.  In past posts, I have purposely tried to inspire, at times, but not preach - I have remained "secular" so-to-speak.  But the events of past have all fit together - fit together to say to me "This is who I've created you to be, TraceyCarol!"  (The name I always heard when I knew times were serious!)  "I've created you to be who are are, right here; right now, in this second, minute, hour; for this place and these people! Now BE it!"

What is IT?  It's different everyday and multiple times a day - it's wife, it's mom, it's teacher, it's friend, it's a driver, it's a volunteer, it's a photographer, it's a librarian, it's...  That's just IT - God will use me as needed in the moment.  And I'm good with that!

I don't have to have Nathan Sawaya - The Brick Artist kind of purpose and fame.  I just have to have the willingness to inspire, cultivate, listen to, or maybe encourage the next Nathan Sawaya - The Brick Artist!

I am TraceyCarol - I am who God created me to be and I am living in my castle!

I am venturing to a new blog - to chronicle the most important role of who I am created to be - a wife and mom.  The new blog is called #KUWTP.  It will be the musings, antics, boring life, funny life, and the stuff of what makes up the lives of the people I share a castle with - the Pattersons.  If you care to follow along with the digital version of our lives, you can find it here!  It and we are art works in progress - and that's okay!
